The Tooth Fairy

tooth fairy gifts

With thanks for your tooth,
a gift I have made.

I will tell you my stories,

my secrets, my trade.
For inside this box,
world treasures you'll hold.
And my spirit and magic
at last will be told.

🦷 Kennett’s Tooth Fairy Night

After dinner, Kennett was enjoying his ice cream when suddenly he yelled, “OMG, that hurt!” At first, I thought he had bitten his cheek—he does that often. But then he said, “My tooth!”

Looking closer, I could tell he’d been working on it for days with all the usual wiggling and tongue tricks. His brother Dan immediately remembered his own first tooth and said, “Remember the bow we tied on mine? You let me walk around for days like that.” John groaned, “Please, let’s not go there.”

Later that evening, after John left for LA, Kennett came into my office and asked, “What was Dan talking about—the bow tie?” I explained: “We used floss to make a little knot around Dan’s tooth. When he was ready, he could pull it out himself.”

Kennett gave me a skeptical look, but five minutes later he returned with floss in hand: “Can I have a knot around my tooth?” I tied it on, and sure enough, within a minute the tooth popped right out—just as his new one was already pushing through.

Now Kennett is proudly waiting for the Tooth Fairy to arrive. ✨

Funny Business

Entry for July 11, 2007 magnify
It's a funny business, a woman's career. The things you drop on your way up the ladder, so you can move faster. You forget you'll need them again when you go back to being a woman. That's one career all females have in common~ whether we like it or not~ being a woman.
Sooner or later we've all got to work at it, no matter what other careers we've had or wanted.... and, in the last analysis, nothing is any good unless you can look up just before dinner or turn around in bed~ and there he is. Without that, you're not a woman. You're something with a French Provincial office or a book of clippings~ but you're not a woman.
I got those great words from my favorite book. ~ Bette Davis, in the classic film All About Eve.....Love who you are before you can love others.
I love my family. I love to cook. I love my house. I love to camp. I love to fly fish. I love to water paint. I love to quilt. I love to read. I love to write. I love to travel. I love to shop ( shshsh don't tell my husband ) and I love Ginger my lab.

And I refuse to give up my $4.00 coffee in the morning.

A Life Dream

Entry for February 02, 2008magnify
As I set on my porch and wonder about the world that is out there. I wondered one day what I was really missing. I have forgotten what it was like to do the 9-5. I have have always worked around my children's life. Giving them all the time and energy I had.
One day while on vacation in Hawaii, I was standing in a boutique and I was truly easy dropping. This couple was fighting about when they get home how she is going to have to get a job. I was so glued to this conversation for about 15 minutes and I am sorry but you know I learned more about myself in that 15 minutes then I have in 20 years. This man was very upset about his life and retirement and how he has provided a life style for this women that was above and beyond there means and he wanted to change that when they went home. He encourage her to seek education and to do something with her life. Because one day he just might not be there for her. I thought to myself he was being very mean to her to bring this up on vacation. How sad. But very HONEST! Good for me. Because I have always been the one to take care of my family as far as the cooking and the cleaning and the education but as far as being a major bread winner I was not. I have done Home Day Care/Preschool and it has just paid the bills and put food on the table.
From My Porch I saw my life passing. So I took a stand for me and my dreams what if something happened would I be able to make it in the world...Yes but I needed a plan. A plan of change..
So as 2008 started I pondered my life dream. Yes I do have those..(grin)
Being a Massage Therapist.
I started with my Chiropractor he gave me home work right way. He said go to as many massages you can in a months time. And see which style you like and go from there. Asking questions about schooling, jobs, and are you happy with what you are doing. Sure you will have those jobs and sure you will have those times. But if I was going to make these kind of changes and the only way to do it was to do it right. Doing my own research even though I have had a dream, without that research I may not have a good idea of what the whole picture of my "Dream Job" was really all about.
The job market my research found lots of avenues, day spas, chiropractors, physical therapists, and the list goes on from there.

Touch

Touch is a very important part of life. It is a language that communicates love, understanding, and reassurance and at the same time creates a comforting and healing effect. Many of us go through life being "touch starved" and rarely experience the wonderful feeling of being fully satisfied. Research in recent years has revealed that deprivation of touch can lead not only to emotional disturbance, but also to diminished intellectual ability, impaired physical growth, reduced sexual interest, and deterioration of the immune system. In addition, many forms of deviant behavior, such as those involving depression, violence, aggression, and hyperactivity have been traced to the lack of touch.

Hello

 Today I unlocked two doors—
one to healing through touch,
one to beauty through blooms.
My hands will learn to soothe,
my heart will learn to sow.
Both journeys are seeds,
waiting for the right season to flower.
